I know it won't be directed by Peter Jackson, but it might not even get made if Chris Tolkien has anything to say about it.

Wow, wait, so what's going on with this?? I haven't heard anything about it. Why wouldn't Chris want it made into a movie? I know he worked hard in getting his father's Silmarillion published.

Chris claims that the studio still owes him money from the LOTR trilogy. Which isn't hard to believe since Peter Jackson had to fight tooth and nail just to get his money.

But apparently Chris didn't want any of his fathers books turned into movies. He wants to keep the lore to himself I guess.

Ah, yes those movies costed a fortune! That's odd though that he would want to keep all that sacred, I suppose because it was his father's who is now deceased. However, you'd think he'd understand that J.R.R Tolkien enjoyed writing, both for children and adults. I'm sure he'd want to share his stories with anyone who's interested.

I hope that The Hobbit is made into a movie (and a good one at that -- it'd be wonderful to finish up the movies with a bang...unless they decide to even make the Silmarillion into a movie!).

Tolkien hates Hollywood

The article above is basically the news of what's currently happening, but I haven't found the letters (300+ pages) that was sent from Tolkien to the studios (presuming they meant Warner Bros in the forums).
